Turn your passion into your competitive advantage

At a recent workshop a business development manager said how being passionate about their organisation and conveying that passion was their approach to securing new business.

Sounds good! A passionate approach is certainly attractive and can help engage your audience however there is one fundamental problem with this as an approach to securing new business.

The problem comes when your competitors are equally passionate about their organisation and what they have to offer. Now you have no competitive advantage. The one aspect of your approach that you thought would give you the edge is in fact expected and standard.

When passion is not enough

Passion in itself is not going to win you business (although a lack of passion may be a reason for not securing business). It may get you noticed and remembered, but with the absence of any logical argument you come across as just........passionate.

Turning passion into a competitive advantage

If you want to stand out from the crowd and attract more business, then convey how what you are passionate about can help your prospect to achieve their needs and add value to their business - what it means for them.

Show your prospect how you can take the passion from your world to help them to achieve outcomes and value in theirs.
